I got two of them: the cutbait knife and the fillet knife. Originally, I was going to use both only for fishing! But let me tell ya — the quality of the knife was so good that I ended up using them on a weekly basis, for cooking. Hah. Nowadays, I am not only filleting a fish with them. I am also chopping veggies, etc. Gotta thank KastKing for some of the warm meals in this household!

These KastKing Knives are amazing. The blade is sleek, very sharp and the handle textures when gripped, feels comfortable and sure. These knives will not come out of your hands no matter what. The German 4116 Steel is also known as a Marine Steel.. They are a steel used in many nautical knives. They also make medical devices from 4116 steel for hygienic applications, due to the high percentage of Chromium added to assure a higher corrocion resistance steel.. Chromium is what makes a steel stainless.. A low quality stainless steel has to have a least 5% Chromium, most stainless steel made will add no less than 10% Chromium to their steel. The 4116 German Steel (also know as the 4116 KRUPP) has 14.50 % of Chromium, which makes it a great knife for saltwater use. Even though there are steel with much higher Chromium added, too much Chromium with weaken the steel to edge retention and flex. The 4116 steel has a fine balance of Carbon, Chromium, Vanadium and Molybdenum which makes this steel so versatile and withstands hard use. It is not an expensive steel to create, but I haven’t seen a Chefs knife made out of 4116 steel go less than $100. KastKing has created a masterpiece with these knives.. They are gorgeous and very AFFORDABLE.. If you love knives, (like I do) you will appreciate and enjoy these to your collection..

This knife cuts even large scaly fish with ease and also stays sharp through filleting most of the fish in the cooler. Amazing how it keeps it edge and is still a very flexible knife. I will purchase more!

I can’t express how impressed I am with the knife handle. Water, Slime, and guts are all slippery fluids, but even with that on your hands and the knife, I can say that I was able to safely hold the knife and get the job done! The hump on the handle also helps you hold onto the knife, but seriously, the WINN Grips on it is a game changer! Super comfortable too!The knife is super sharp and made my trout cleaning so easy! Can’t wait to use it again soon!Update:Bought the bait knife and my neighbor accidentially cut himself while he was helping me unbox it! I can say that it is super sharp! just need to test it on fish and not humans!

For the cost of the knife you can’t beat the construction and characteristics of the blade. I’m a Texas saltwater guy so my knife as used on a variety of fish species in a tough environment. Flexible enough for the delicate fish with enough backbone for some of the tougher species. Holds an edge very well and is easy to sharpen with just a few passes over a straight edge. Proper care after use is important to keep the rust from the blade but there have been a couple time where I didn’t follow through with my process and the blade has help up admirably to the treatment without showing any signs of rust. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with this knife.

I added this to my collection of kitchen knives and can’t be more pleased. I bought the 6″ one, thought it would be smaller but size is just right. Design is pristine and feels like you’re holding a quality knife on your hands. Needless to say. Cuts paper like it’s butter.

This super sharp filet knife was exactly what I was looking for, and at a great price compared to other filet knives. I use it to cut meat off the bone of whole bone-in rib roasts. Nice small tip for intricate work around and in between the bones. It is sharp all the way to the end of the tip. I’m sure it would be great for filleting fish also. The blade guard is perfect for storage and is securely held on the blade. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. And as a bonus, it came in my favorite, easy-to-see color orange! LOL
